KINETIK MANIFESTO
§0 — TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT
SET IN ANYBODY,
A TWO-AXIS VARIABLE FONT.
EVERY DEMONSTRATION IS LIVE.
NOTHING HERE IS A PICTURE.
We hold that a letterform is not a picture of a sound but a machine for attention. A machine is judged by how it moves. What follows are ten theses, each one proving itself in front of you — scrubbed by your scroll, provoked by your cursor. If a thesis fails to move you, it has failed. Scroll slowly. The type is watching.
EMPHASIS
A whisper and a shout are the same word. Scroll: the wght axis does the yelling — 100 to 900, letter by letter, no bold cut required.
TEMPO
Condensed is urgent. Extended is patient. Duration lives in the wdth axis — 50 to 150 — and your scroll is the bellows.
RHYTHM RHYTHM RHYTHM
Repetition is not redundancy — the grid is a drum. Each letter pulses on its own offset beat, and the page keeps 4/4 time.
GRAVITY
Every letterform carries mass. Drop a headline from the top of the viewport and it lands like furniture — bounce, settle, tilt.
These strips read your scroll velocity and answer with speed and shear. Flick the page. Italics used to be a style; now they are a consequence.
CONTRAST
Black on white, white on black — a strong idea survives the flip. You just crossed the hinge. Decoration would not have made it.
TENSION
Crowd the letters and they argue. Spread them and they testify. Tracking is not spacing — it is pressure.
LOUD
Set it bigger. If it still fits, the room was too small. Past a certain size a word stops being read and starts being heard.
SIGNAL
A good headline survives corruption. We run ours through static until only the message is left standing.
ALIVE
Bring your cursor close — the letters lean in. Type that moves is type that thinks. This is the whole manifesto. Now you drive ↓
// THE HEADLINE IS EDITABLE. TYPE YOUR OWN VERDICT, THEN PULL THE AXES.
